Ep 9: Ari Miller with Stefon

This episode features one of my nearest and dearest friends, and he just so happens to be a fantastic writer based out of LA.  If there’s one thing Ari Miller loves more than enjoying the great outdoors of Southern California, it’s well-structured jokes! Set up/punchline, baby!  So of course, he chose to dissect one of Weekend Update’s most beloved (and mean spirited?) set up/punchline correspondents- Stefon!  While we both appreciate the talent of Bill Hader and the focus behind John Mulaney’s writing, we quickly get into our thoughts regarding “punching down” being pretty shitty comedy.  This is definitely the first episode that isn’t an absolute love fest for the character- and that’s what made it so great!
